Dan Goodman is in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London. He leads the Neural Reckoning research group. His main research interests are in (1) computational neuroscience and machine learning, with a particular interest in biologically realistic “spiking” neural networks, and (2) auditory perception, particularly spatial hearing. He is committed to open source science and software development, and created the Brian spiking neural network simulator package that is widely used in computational neuroscience. He also co-founded the Neuromatch non-profit organisation focussed on expanding access to neuroscience research events such as conferences and summer schools.

Dan Goodman will lead a project using meta-learning and sim2real techniques to adaptive and interactively fit individualised head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) to users based on feedback in a VR/AR setting. He will also coordinate with teams in France and Austria on HRTF parameterisation and perceptual modelling.
